Abstract and Contemporary Painting | All Levels | Thurs 7pm-9:30pm, start date: 05/18/2023
In this 6-week short course, you will learn paint application techniques and composition while exploring personal expression through the visceral world of abstract and contemporary art. Students will be shown how colour and texture can mirror emotion, as well as gain an understanding of modern and contemporary art. (Acrylic or oil painting)
New and returning students are welcome. This course may be taken more than once; exercises and subject themes vary each term.
Materials not included.

Gallery Workshop Series: Printmaking: Reduction Block Prints | Intro | Sunday, June 11 | 9:30am-4:30pm , start date: 06/11/2023

Reduction block printing is the process of creating a multi-layer print from a single block. Each block is carved, printed, carved again (“reduced”), then printed again—as many times as desired—to achieve layers of colour and depth.
Suitable for beginner printmakers, including people who have never done any block printing previously, and those who have some prior knowledge/experience.

Gallery Workshop Series: Printmaking: An Introduction to Monotype Techniques | Intro | Friday, June 16 | 9:30am-2pm, start date: 06/16/2023

Monotypes are a special kind of printmaking that creates a single and unique impression. In this fun introductory workshop, participants will try their hand at three different monoprinting techniques, with and without a press. The three techniques are: Reverse drawing, reductive inking and layering with textures. Each technique will be demonstrated and then participants will have time to explore the technique.

A demonstration of printmaking in its simplest technical form, by painting inks and acrylic or oil paints on metal or plastic sheets, and then either running them through the press or printing by hand. This workshop is designed in particular for artists with little or no experience in printmaking, or who haven't printed in a while. No toxic solvents will be used.

Members of ArtEast Ottawa are welcome to participate as an introduction to the OSA-Orleans Campus Print Studio.
