Register Let’s meet Picasso and his friends as we explore the marvels of art from mixing colours to building creations. We will learn drawing, painting and sculpture techniques. We will work with traditional and less traditional materials to create and let our imagination soar: collage with Matisse, colours with Klee, modern sculpture and much more. This is a fun course that builds a strong art foundation. The goal of the class is to give children the chance to freely express themselves and experience personal growth through making art. This course is open to new as well as returning students.

Rencontrez Picasso et ses amis tout en explorant les merveilles du monde des arts, du mélange des couleurs jusqu’à la construction des projets, en apprenant des techniques de base en dessin, peinture et sculpture. Nous travaillerons avec des matériaux traditionnels et non traditionnels afin de créer et libérer notre imagination: collage d’après Matisse, couleurs avec Klee, sculpture moderne et beaucoup plus. Il s’agit d’un cours ludique qui permet aux enfants d’acquérir les fondements en arts. Register In this fun and dynamic course we will travel back through time and a little into the future. We will travel back to see Picasso and Mondrian’s use of colour and shape. We will look at Matisse’s simplicity and Etcher’s complexities. We will explore the influence of photography and silkscreening. We will take a look at where we think art is going in the future. We will have fun while learning and build confidence through self-expression in art. This course is open to new as well as returning students.

Dans ce cours ludique et dynamique, nous voyagerons dans le temps, dans le passé, mais aussi dans le futur. Students will create works inspired by major events, eras and places of the earth, such as the Big Bang, the Roman Empire, the Great Wall of China, and the Renaissance. From Miniature to Monumental III / De la miniature au monumental III / Mixed Media - Techniques mixtes: 8-12 Years/ans (B)
Register Explore and learn art techniques while having the opportunity to work very small and very big. We will look to the extremes for our inspiration, from monuments and architecture to drawing and design. This exploration will focus on learning strong art techniques in drawing, painting, sculpting and printmaking through interesting and new projects. This course will be a fun challenge and will give a wonderful opportunity for self-expression. This course is open to new as well as returning students.

Apprenez des techniques artistiques tout en ayant la possibilité de travailler le très petit et le très grand. Nous allons nous inspirer d’éléments très différents; monuments et architecture tout autant que dessin et design. Let's Draw!: 10-11 Years
Register Do you love to draw, and want to learn more techniques and tricks? In this class we will explore the fundamentals of drawing, and experiment with a wide range of materials including pencil, charcoal, pastels, and ink. We will also discover how drawings are used by artists, from studies to storyboards to finished works. A balance of technique and individual creativity will be promoted in this class. This course is open to new as well as returning students.

Teen Portfolio Development: Early Preparation: 12-14 Years
This course will focus on developing students’ observational skills while focusing on tone, form, proportion, likeness, depth, composition and texture. Special attention will be given to portraiture, life drawing and still life. Students will work from a model in preparation for the Canterbury visual arts interview. Through a variety of painting, drawing, mixed media and sculpture projects, students will refine their skills and develop a substantial body of work. This course will cover all of the requirements for the Canterbury visual arts portfolio. Also available to teens wanting to attend De la Salle or pursuing their own interest in art. This course is open to new students as well as returners. (Tuition includes one draped model.)

Art Foundation - Drawing & Painting Emphasis: 15-18 Years
Register Whether you are interested in pursuing architecture, fashion, animation or fine arts you will need to be able to draw. Your school art teacher does not have time to teach you everything. This course is designed for the serious art student to complement your school art program. It will help you to create convincing form, accurate proportion and pleasing compositions using observational techniques while working from still lives and the human figure. We will also produce some work that demonstrates your creativity. This course is open to new students as well as returners. (Fees include 4 draped models.)
