Printmaking, Intro -inter: Aug, 9:30 am - 4 pm
In this course, students will learn how to prepare a zinc plate, draw on the plate, put on a ground, etch the plate and print from the etched plate and follow up with aquatinting the image and taking further prints.
Printmaking is a form of art. An original print is the work which the artist realizes through the strengths and limits of that medium. The INTAGLIO printing method, which will be taught, was practiced by Rembrandt, Goya, Whistler and Mary Cassatt in the past.

This class is suitable for students who want to improve their techniques.

N.B. Varsol and acids are used in printmaking.

For those interested in lithography, it is advisable to register for both weeks!

FULL:Intro to Digital Photography, Intro: Aug, Tue & Thur, 6:30 - 9:30 pm
The course is structured to introduce the fundamentals of digital photography by helping you understand your camera as well as the range of technical choices that one can make to improve their photographs. Topics that will be covered include simplifying your menu choices, manual versus semi-automatic exposure controls, lens choice, how to use your flash properly as well as how to process your digital photographs in post-production. Weekly exercises, demonstrations and open critiques will improve your seeing and intuition in how to produce dynamic, engaging photographs.

Japanese Painting: Mounting Your Work:Intro-adv, Sat, 10 - 4
Register There are a number of ways to mount and present your artwork aside from traditional glass-and-frame methods. Contemporary Asian artworks can be mounted on wood, foam-board or canvas. Come and learn these methods in this one day workshop.  I will supply the paste (and other adhesives), spray bottles, a couple of cutting mats, scrap paper and some other tools as well as instructions to take home.
