Exploring Modern Art: Mixed Media, Ages 4 - 6, Sat, 10 am - 12 pm, start date: 09/10/2022
Register Learn about Modern Art and the artists Picasso, Matisse, Calder, Miro, Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, Jasper Johns, and others. In this course, students will understand the techniques used by these artists and the ideas behind them, and implement them to create their works of art. Each lesson will focus on a specific artist and some of the most notable works of the Modern art movement. Projects include drawing, colour studies, creating abstract paintings, collage, mobile making, printmaking and mixed media.

Inspiration will come from their present-day neighbourhoods and their imaginary ideal neighbourhoods. We will explore some of these existing and imaginary neighbourhood elements by illustrating them in 2D artworks, using collages, drawings and paintings, and in 3D artworks, using clay and found materials.

These courses are designed for students at all skill levels who want to draw seriously. Students will learn and practice drawing techniques and discover cartooning and animated cartoon secrets. Students will apply their creativity to the production of comic strips, illustrations, animated cartoons (stop-motion techniques) and comic pages.
Each season includes lessons on drawing hands (natural and cartoon-style), the human figure and animal characters.

Ces cours sont accessibles aux élèves de tous les niveaux d’habileté qui veulent dessiner de façon sérieuse. Les élèves apprendront et pratiqueront les techniques du dessin et ils découvriront les secrets de la BD et du dessin animé. Les élèves feront preuve de créativité en réalisant des projets de bandes dessinées, illustrations, dessins animés et des planches de BD.
Chaque saison il y aura des leçons sur comment dessiner les mains (naturelles et caricaturales), la figure humaine et les animaux.

Register This course will focus on developing students’ observational skills while focusing on tone, form, proportion, likeness, depth, composition and texture. Special attention will be given to portraiture, drawing the human figure (with the aid of a live model), and still life. The objective of this course is to help students prepare a body of work for application to specialized visual art programs in high school, for an art related career or to develop their art abilities. Through a variety of painting, drawing, mixed media and sculpture projects, students will refine their skills. The goal is to help students develop a well-built portfolio by the end of the session.

Students will apply their creativity to the production of comic strips, illustrations, and the development of personal projects.
Each season will include a lesson on drawing hands (natural and cartoon), tips on writing and storytelling for comic books, and the production of a class magazine collecting original projects by the students.

Ces cours sont accessibles aux élèves de tous les niveaux d’habileté qui prennent au sérieux leur dessin et écriture. Les élèves apprendront et pratiqueront les techniques du scénario et du dessin et ils découvriront les secrets de la bande dessinée.
