These courses are designed for students at all skill levels who want to draw seriously. Students will learn and practice drawing techniques and discover cartooning and animated cartoon secrets. Students will apply their creativity to the production of comic strips, gag panels, caricatures, illustrations, animated cartoons (hand-drawn and stop-motion techniques) and comic books.

Each season includes lessons on drawing hands (realistic and cartoon-style), the human figure and animal characters.

Students will develop their drawing ability through steely observation. They will perfect tone, form, proportion, likeness, depth, composition and texture. Great attention will be given to portraiture, life drawing and still life. Students will work from a model in preparation for possible future visual arts interviews. A substantial body of work will be created through a variety of interesting and challenging painting, mixed media, sculpture and drawing projects. This course will cover all requirements for certain visual arts portfolios and is suitable for teens with a keen interest in art.
