The Introduction to Art Therapy is not only a must for those in the helping or teaching professions, but for any artist who has been trying to examine their own creations.
The eight classes will help you understand how you work and why. The classes will include some theory, a study of group dynamics, group work, art assessments, and an examination of some existing cases, pictures done by children and adults as they progress in their therapy.
The students will experience guided imagery, self-expression, group work , mask-making of your own hand or face, a ‘life box’, relaxation techniques in a supportive atmosphere. There will be a discussion of ethics. The first session will require markers and oil pastels.

This course is for anyone itching to expand their practice creatively or articulate their unique artistic identity. Through any preferred medium we will explore exercises, prompts, fieldwork, and group reflections that aim to unravel why we make art the way we do. We will ponder our sensory, social, symbolic, and critical experiences with our art and our peers' art. Exploring subject matter, inspirations, internal/external worlds, and our reach to others through art, the aim of the course is to deepen our curiosity, inspire each other and better understand our creative processes.

Fabric Painting, Intro; Wed, 6 - 9 pm, start date: 11/01/2023

Individuals will learn how to create unique designs on fabric using brushes. These designs can be anything from simple shapes and patterns to complex scenes or portraits. Regardless of the techniques learned, different types of fabric painting, prepare the fabric for painting, Transfer the design to the garment, and finally, the design on a t-shirt and Denim Fabric (jacket) that we finish together, the ultimate goal is to create unique, personalized fabrics that can be used for a variety of projects, such as clothing, home decor, or accessories.
