Drawing: What do you see? / Dessiner: Que voyez-vous? - Inter/Adv (B)
This course will explore fundamental drawing techniques while working from direct observation. Drawing from direct observation is essential to learning how to identify basic structures, compose an image, create convincing depth, and work with flexibility and efficiency. Students will explore a range of drawing media through projects that will improve gestural confidence, hand-eye coordination, and the visual "editing" of information. Some of the techniques covered include: blocking in and composition, perspective, shading (cross-hatching, chiaroscuro, blending, drawing with an eraser, etc.), ink washes, and working with texture. This course has been developed for students with prior drawing experience. (One live model included).

No classes Thanksgiving weekend, October 8-10.

The Beauty of Printmaking: Start with Linocut - Intro/Inter

Painting Your Way Out of a Corner / Peindre avec confiance: L'art de la résolution de problèmes - All Levels / tous les niveaux (B)
Register In the tradition of The Artist’s Way, by American author Julia Cameron, this exciting weekend workshop will introduce painting as a jumping-off point for realizing one’s full creative potential in all areas of life. Using brushstrokes instead of words, participants will create a painting journal that relies on improvisation and imagination to overcome obstacles and find new solutions that often seem out of reach. Through a series of exercises that emphasize improvisation and risk-taking, participants will learn how to quiet their inner critics and strengthen their creativity. The more we learn to play and accept whatever appears on the page, the more we are able to try new things in life! Some materials are included in the course fee.
