Workshops

School Groups

The Ottawa School of Art offers school groups a unique program of hands-on, well-structured training in the fine art tradition of drawing, painting, printmaking, photography (digital or darkroom experience) sculpture or ceramics. Students will be introduced to one of these mediums in, typically, a 3 hour workshop with a professional artist/instructor. Instruction will be aimed at all skill levels. Students will gain a deeper understanding of their medium and the opportunity to express their own ideas.

Teachers may request particular themes to coordinate with their curriculum. Any artwork produced by the students can be taken home.

Groups of 16 or more require 2 instructors. Materials are provided, some additional costs may apply. Half day and full day workshops are available. Please contact admin@artottawa.ca for rates.

Corporate Team Building

Want to get out of the office and do something different and creative for your Team Building exercise? Our professional artist/instructors can create a fun and engaging art workshop for your group exploring any of the fine art traditions of drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture or ceramics.

Our instructors provide a safe, non-judgemental environment for even the most timid amateur! Workshops can be geared to a particular theme.

Partenariats universitaires et collégiaux

Ottawa School of Art can collaborate with theory and history education programs by providing hands-on, practical training or demonstrations in the fine art tradition of drawing and painting. We also have specialty studios for printmaking, darkroom sculpture or ceramics. We can provide an opportunity to demonstrate unique painting techniques such as encaustic and gold leaf, or take students through the various printmaking processes of relief (woodcuts and linocut), intaglio (drypoint) and planographic (polyester plate lithography). Our darkroom is fully equipped for processing film and learning to make high quality enlargements. OSA also has a ceramic studio with 6 wheels and two kilns for experimenting with firing and glazing.

Demos or workshops can be tailored to fit the university curriculum and schedule. Groups of 16 or more require 2 instructors. Materials are provided, some additional costs may apply.
