Don't Be Afraid of the Darks: Portrait Drawing Using Light and Shadow: Intro, Wed, 6:30 - 9:30 pm
Register This course takes place at the Beaverbrook Community Centre: 4 Beaverbrook Rd, Kanata, ON K2K 1L1

In this course, we’ll use the centuries-old technique of chiaroscuro to draw a lifelike portrait. This technique, used by the old masters, is based on capturing the behavior of light as it falls across the subject. We will learn how to capture a likeness and create a sense of form by drawing accurate light and shadow shapes. Each week’s lesson will build on the previous one, as we learn about proportions and features. We’ll use photographs to practice what we learn, and then we’ll put it all together and draw a portrait from a live model.
