FULL: Beginner Film Photography for the Curious, Ages 13 - 15
Learn and practice the magic of silver emulsion with this introduction course to black and white film photography for teens. We will learn to take well-composed photographs, develop negatives, and print in a real darkroom! Study some of the key historical figures in 20th century film photography and practice this fading art form by creating original paper photographs from beginning visuals to final presentation.

All students will be required to have their own 35mm camera. Both parents and students will be required to sign a consent form assuring the safety and knowledge of the student to the materials and equipment being used in the darkroom.

Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with strings; these are a few of my favorite things...and they can all be represented on a shirt using silk screening.

Creating silk-screened prints on t-shirts, pants, pillows, your mom’s wedding dress, or whatever your pleasure, is a fun skill that you can use the rest of your life.

Mokuhanga Printing Workshop, Intro: July, Tues - Fri, 9 am - 4 pm
Register At the onset of this 4-day mokuhanga workshop, participants will make a two-color print from prepared blocks using; water-based pigments, kento registration, and pressing with a baren – all hallmarks of this Japanese woodblock printmaking process date back to the 17th century. We will then move into designing, carving and printing our own designs with thorough demonstrations of each step along the way. At the workshop’s closing, we will have the option of exchanging prints with one another.

A design/drawing for your print. Your design/drawing needs fit within a 5" x 7" boundary (paper size will be 6” x 8”), have clearly defined shapes (like in a coloring book) and may utilize two (maybe more) colors.

Register Want to make your own detailed 3D animals, fantasy beasts or monsters? Explore armature construction, balance, detail, movement, texture and anatomy in polymer clay making original fantastic creatures of your choosing. This one week intensive will walk you through the process of building your creatures from the inside out and encourage your own style and voice in the making.

-tin foil (1 roll)
-masking tape
-sculpting tools (if they have them)
-a few mixed packs of glass beads
-any rigid press molds or texture presses if the school happens to have some (optional)

Register Suitable for all levels of artistic skills, this course analyzes the human form by drawing from medieval techniques of crosshatching found in works of such masters as Da Vinci, Durer, Holbein, Raphael, and Rembrandt. Embracing the challenge of working from the live nude model via a series of exercises and demonstrations, the course focuses on the rib cage, pelvis and thigh, knee and lower leg, foot, shoulder girdle, arm, hand, neck and head. Using the traditional tools of charcoal, nib and ink, students will acquire the practical knowledge of the old masters in seeing light and form to shape and inform a personal, artistic approach to the human body.
