Workshop: Listening to Light

In this workshop, participants will learn basic soldering skills while building a light-to-sound converter that can plug into any smartphone or portable audio recorder. We will listen to artowrk that uses sonified light and explore the urban environment to make synaesthetic recordings.
For ages 12 and up, no experience necessary, participants must supply a smartphone or recorder and headphones.

The OSA is happy to announce artists Zach Poff + N.B. Aldrich who will be installing a new large-scale work in the OSA Downtown Gallery in October. Witnesses: Trikaya will be the latest in a series of works where a group of electronic Buddhist chant-boxes create a spontaneous sound composition in response to television images.
