The Ottawa School of Art is proud to present the work of OSA Diploma Student:
Hannah Sekerka is a visual artist based in Ottawa who’s most recent work explores issues around mental health, emotions and states of mind. The artist’s use of acrylic paint washes with multimedia focal points on unprimed canvas’ results in delicate spider-web like structures characteristic of the human brain. The images are full of depth and movement inviting the viewer to explore and respond intuitively with their own minds eye.
Sekerka is currently in her third and final year of the Fine Art Diploma program at the Ottawa School of Art where she received the Fritz Allgoewer Memorial Scholarship in 2018. Her work is also informed by local Ottawa artists Angelina McCormick, and Gillian King, both with whom she has successfully completed a mentorship. Sekerka has participated in several group exhibitions, in Ottawa and in the Outaouais areas, associated with the Ottawa School of Art and her work can be found in private collections.
“My work focuses on abstract washes of acrylic paint with multimedia focal points on unprimed canvas that explore concepts of the brain and psychology.”
