Fine Arts Diploma student Max K Black’s exhibition
Levity and Gravity on Tuesday April 11, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Irving Greenberg Theatre Centre (GCTC) 1233 Wellington St West (2nd floor). Works will be on display from April 11 to May 13, 2017 All are welcome!Max K Black was born in Ottawa, Canada, and holds a diploma from the University of Ottawa (International Studies and Modern Languages with English Minor) and is currently completing a three year Fine Arts Diploma program at the Ottawa School of Art.
In 2016 Ms. Black was the recipient of the Corrie Gibson Memorial Study Scholarship and in 2015 she received the Ted Marshall Memorial Scholarship.
Combining the ancient with the new, Black’s work takes an interdisciplinary approach to art making and conceptualization. Creating alchemy between materials and human understanding, Black explores notions of identity, experience and belief, through humor and elements of the macabre.“Finding beauty in the unsettling and mischief in the solemn, Black searches for understanding between disjointed ideas, struggling to reach out and embrace each other” –
Max K Black, ArtistArtist Biography / Statement:
Max K Black was born in Ottawa, Canada, and holds a diploma from the University of Ottawa, (International Studies and Modern Languages with English Minor) and is completing a three year Fine Art Diploma program with the Ottawa School of Art, expected graduation date – Winter 2017.
Combining the ancient with the new, Black’s work takes an interdisciplinary approach to art making and conceptualization. Creating an alchemy between materials and human understanding, Black explores notions of identity, experience and belief, through humor and elements of the macabre. Finding beauty in the unsettling and mischief in the solemn, Black searches for understanding between disjointed ideas, struggling to reach out and embrace each other.
