A Study in Fowl

Max K Black

Max K Black was born in Ottawa, Canada, and holds a diploma from the University of Ottawa (International Studies and Modern Languages with English Minor) as well as a diploma from the Ottawa School of Art (Fine Arts). Combining the ancient with the new, Black’s work takes an interdisciplinary approach to art making and conceptualization. Creating an alchemy between materials and human understanding, Black explores notions of identity, experience and belief, through humour and elements of the macabre. Finding beauty in the unsettling and mischief in the solemn, Black searches for understanding between disjointed ideas, struggling to reach out and embrace each other.
