Démarche d’artiste – “ e r r a r e ”

Ces tableaux tracent un cheminement à travers l’audace et le détachement. J’erre afin de découvrir une liberté de m’exprimer et de développer une idée nouvelle, alliant dans ce cas, outils ancestraux et contemporains.

Installée au pied de la Sainte-Victoire, mon œil scanne, des arbres au premier plan, aux falaises au second et le ciel en dernier. Je distingue les creux, la crête, les rocs, et leurs reflets bleu et ocre. Cette première ascension physique et intellectuelle servira de socle aux tableaux subséquents.

Rentrée à l’atelier, je poursuis ce voyage exploratoire et me lance dans une expérimentation avec la matière. Alors que ma main suit son contour, une montagne apparaît, ruisselante d’huile. Un travail de réflexion plus soutenu s’opère. J’appose de l’acrylique par-dessus. Ce mélange à la fois voulu et peu orthodoxe de matériaux entraîne des fissures, une riposte de la matière. L’huile apparaît sous l’acrylique déjà rigide et un équilibre se crée. Je déplace les pigments avec des outils variés. Le tableau réplique, me surprend et là… le dialogue s’établit. Je me livre entièrement au processus et la toile répond constamment. J’erre; je ne m’attache pas. Libérée de toute vision préconçue, je continue à manipuler jusqu’à ce qu’elle me dise qu’elle en a assez. Tout est moment présent !

Ces explorations conduisent à des tableaux « synthèses » qui me plongent dans des réflexions formelles et chromatiques plus profondes, de véritables Champs de bataille pour l’intellect mêlant moments de Brouillard et de clarté.

Artist Statement – “ e r r a r e ”

These works are clearing a path through audacity and detachment. I roam purposely, with the aim to discover a freedom to express myself, and to develop new ideas, combining, in this case, ancestral and contemporary tools.

Set up at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire, my eye scans: trees in the foreground, cliffs in the second and then, the sky. I decipher the hollows, the crest, and the rocks, with their blue and ocher reflections. This first physical and intellectual ascent will serve as a basis for the subsequent paintings.

Back in the studio, I pursue this exploratory journey and I start experimenting with paint. As my hand follows its outline, a mountain appears, streaming with oil. More thoughtful work is taking place. I lay acrylic on top. This unorthodox mix of materials deliberately causes accidental cracks, a riposte from the paint. The oil peaks through the acrylic and, by moving the pigments with various tools, an equilibrium is created. The painting responds, surprises me and there … A dialogue is initiated. I fully engage in the process and the work constantly changes. I roam; I do not get attached. Freed from any preconceived vision, I keep manipulating until it tells me that it has had enough. Everything is present moment!

These explorations lead to “synthesis” paintings that plunge me into deeper formal and chromatic reflections, a real Battle Field for the intellect weaving moments of Fog with moments of clarity.
