Artist Statement:

“Elements in Colour”

When I face a blank canvas, I ask myself, “what dreamscape will I create and what images will be revealed”. Although I am inspired by nature, I rarely use visual references or real places.  My compositions flow from memories and feelings rather than actual scenes. I am fascinated with skies and they create the mood in most of my work. This exhibition brings together a cross section of my recent dreamscapes, from abstracted to more realistic interpretations of nature and the elements.

Artist Biography:

Julie Mercantini is an Ottawa based visual artist. She completed a Fine Arts Diploma from the Ottawa School of Art in 2017.  Since then, she has been in several curated group exhibitions, including at Trinity Art Gallery, La Fab, Electric Street Gallery, Lalande and Doyle, various exhibitions at Foyer Gallery, and she mounted a solo exhibition at [in]tempo design studio. She is the recipient of several awards and scholarships.
