Bio
Farida El-Houseiny spent her childhood in Dubai and her high school years in Egypt before moving to Canada in 2012. Her passion for art started in her early years with the influence of her artistic family. Farida is a mixed media artist who draws upon everyday life experience, objects, shapes, and colours in nature to create her own unique type of abstract expressionism art.
She is currently working on a series of abstract works from which the pieces in this exhibition have been selected.
Farida is currently in her third year, completing the three year Fine Arts Diploma program at the Ottawa School of Art.
Statement
“Art is full of imagination and is a very bright deep language… I deliberately choose bright colours to show the viewer unconditional love expressed in a visual form.” Farida El-Houseiny
Life and what’s created in it inspires me, I express different emotions on a canvas; to share with the viewer a certain feeling or energy; such as the feeling of eating a delicious home cooked meal, meditating by the ocean, or enjoying your favorite song.
My work is like caramel chocolate with berries and cherry blossoms; it’s a dreamy painting with nature and fanciful beings. I am trying to create something new that can influence us.
