Biography
Christine Lenoir-Godin

Christine Lenoir-Godin has been an artist for 60 years. She uses graphite, charcoal, ink, watercolour, pastel, mixed media and acrylic. She sculpts with clay and found objects, ephemeral art and more. Christine is also an ambidextrous painter.

In December of 2014, Ms. Lenoir-Godin obtained her General Arts Program Certificate from the Ottawa School of Art (Orléans campus).

Christine sells much of her work privately and at small events.  She has recently exhibited her work in the Trinity Gallery with the Arteast Ottawa group. She has also shown works depicting local farms with the CAPRAC group – at the Finch International Plowing Match; where nearly 70,000 people attended.  Christine has just closed a month-long solo exhibit this September at La Maison des arts in Embrun, Ontario.

“What DRIVES my creativity was nearly going blind in 1999- the retina in both my eyes tore. Dr. Bill Britton, the Ottawa eye surgeon, saved my sight.  Since that miracle, I look at everything around me as if I had a third eye!” says Christine Lenoir-Godin

Ma courte bio

Christine Lenoir-Godin

Artist Statement

Christine Lenoir-Godin

MY EXPRESSION – ‘The vision’ I translate onto canvas is from raw emotion and desire. I can’t exist in my life without the possibility that there is an ALTER-WORLD.  Another existence parallel to the one I endure, but where a forest that is slashed and burnt, a wild duck flying South is shot down, a child is sexually exploited or a woman is stoned, where anything pure is Re-Created and lives as it would be if this nightmare I live in was not what I witness and suffer.

I create my vision out of a Desire – a desire stronger than the need for a god – for salvation through my dreams and the travels of my spirit – as I travel on the path of fire the stars have made in the sky.

This collection is only the early stage of this journey on astral planes.  I am going to evolve the image of my desire for angelic contact, for absolution for the crimes of humans, for salvation, for the little girl I once was.
