Nic Cooper will be having an exhibition of her work here in the Lee Matasi gallery from Sept. 28 to Oct. 12. The vernissage will take place on September 29th, 19h-21h.
This solo exhibition features artwork made during a two-week artist residency at the Ottawa School of Art. These experimental intaglio prints function as independent works of art, but also as the ‘brainstorming’ to my current body of paintings.
In this suite of prints, I employed the grit and looseness of collographs and monoprints to explore memories of dilapidated houses and war torn areas I travelled through in 2015.
Recalling the stillness of a space, yet knowing it is in a slow process of decay, I attempted to capture the passage time (whether natural or with human interference) that affects space and place.
