Covid-19 Precautions For Diploma and Certificate Program

The Ottawa School of Art is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment in order to protect all staff members, instructors, students, and visitors. OSA will continue to follow the recommendations of Ottawa Public Health and the Council of Ontario Medical Officers of Health and the guidelines and protocols these organizations set out to control COVID-19.
OSA requires students to wear masks while in the school, to practice social distancing and to do regular hand cleaning. Anyone planning to enter the school will be required to pre-screen for COVID-19 symptoms prior to arrival and must stay home if experiencing any of the symptoms. Upon arrival everyone must check in via Guest Log for contact tracing purposes. Parents of children and teens attending classes must email the school at least 30 minutes prior to the start of class, stating that their child/teen is symptom free.
The Diploma/Portfolio Program is registered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities as a private career college. The Ministry announced (dated September 1, 2021) that vaccinations are mandatory for all students, instructors, employees and volunteers attending at private career colleges starting in the fall term. This message was reinforced by an advisory from the Chief Medical Officer of Health for Ontario (dated August 30, 2021). Starting September 7, anyone entering either of OSA’s campuses must be vaccinated in order to participate in in-person classes and activities. Students, instructors, employees and volunteers will be required to provide proof of vaccination, or proof of a medical exemption. Individuals not fully vaccinated will have until October 15 to provide proof that they have had their second vaccination shot.
