Clayton Powell est un leader et un gestionnaire professionnel chevronné ayant évolué dans les secteurs privé et sans but lucratif. M. Powell est cofondateur et directeur de l’exploitation de la firme de stratégie et de conception créative Jackpine Digital, située à Ottawa. Il y assume diverses responsabilités liées à la planification stratégique, au contrôle financier, à la gestion des ressources humaines et aux activités d’expertise en développement des affaires. Fort d’une vaste expérience dans le milieu universitaire et en gouvernance du secteur sans but lucratif, il a notamment servi au sein du sénat de l’Université Trent et agi à titre de lieutenant-gouverneur (Québec et Est ontarien) au sein du Circle K International (CKI) du Kiwanis. M. Powell est titulaire d’un diplôme professionnel en administration des affaires (BBA) et en administration publique (M.A.P.). Il soutient activement l’éducation dans le domaine des arts. Son mandat consiste à mieux concrétiser la vision stratégique de l’École d’art pour en faire un pôle important d’excellence en arts visuels au Canada.

Jessica Houle

Jessica Houle est avocate associée chez Sicotte Guilbault L.L.P. et membre du groupe du droit des affaires ainsi que du groupe du droit des franchises. Parfaitement bilingue, Mme Houle concentre sa pratique sur le droit du travail, le droit commercial (notamment les franchises et les organismes sans but lucratif) ainsi que le droit testamentaire et successoral. Située dans le secteur de l’est d’Ottawa (Orléans), la firme Sicotte Guilbault L.L.P. est un jeune cabinet formé d’une équipe dynamique d’avocats francophones. Mme Houle manifeste un grand intérêt pour les arts et la culture et participe chaque année à plusieurs activités culturelles. Elle agit aussi régulièrement à titre de conférencière, et participe à diverses initiatives dans le but d’améliorer sa pratique juridique.

Melissa Talia is a Certified Professional Accountant with an abundance of experience in the business world with both small to medium sized companies and start-ups. She has helped many a local business get off the ground, and hopes her knowledge and dedication will help the Ottawa School of Art continue the growth and success it has seen in recent years in Canada.
Melissa can’t wait to get involved in the school as a student and hopes to grow her appreciation for the visual arts in the coming years.

Artist / Lawyer

Diane Hiscox is a practicing artist with a background in constitutional and international law and legislative drafting. She earned a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, a law degree from Dalhousie University, and a Master’s degree in law from University of Ottawa. Formerly council in the constitutional and international law section of the Department of Justice, she has since contracted her legal expertise with various government and private clients.

Diane has exhibited her paintings in many group and solo exhibitions locally and internationally, and has work in private and public collections, including the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Hospital collection, and Dalhousie University.

Diane has a strong background serving on non-profit and school boards, including experience as a leader, mediator, and legal writer. She is committed to volunteering.

Visualiste et consultante

Gayle Kells est titulaire d’un baccalauréat en beaux-arts décerné par l’Université d’Ottawa, en plus de son parcours d’études canadiennes au programme de maîtrise en arts de l’Université Carleton. Elle a commencé son exploration du domaine des arts depuis plusieurs années déjà dans le cadre de ses études en peinture et en dessin à l’École d’art d’Ottawa.

 

Depuis deux décennies, Mme Kells occupe un studio à Ottawa avec le groupe Enriched Bread Artists, et elle a eu la chance de faire connaître ses œuvres à l’échelle internationale dans le cadre de nombreuses expositions individuelles ou collectives. Ses œuvres se retrouvent dans plusieurs expositions privées ou publiques, notamment dans la collection publique de la Ville d’Ottawa et à la Résidence du gouverneur général. Elle a par ailleurs reçu deux subventions des arts de la Ville d’Ottawa en appui à ses travaux.

 

Mme Kells a notamment travaillé à titre d’enseignante en arts au Collège Algonquin et dans d’autres établissements d’Ottawa, en plus d’agir comme bénévole au bénéfice de nombreux organismes sans but lucratif. Elle a siégé au Comité consultatif sur les arts, la culture, le patrimoine et les loisirs de Ville d’Ottawa, et a déjà occupé le poste d’agente de développement de la Galerie d’art d’Ottawa.


David Finnie, BA(Honours)

David Finnie has 34 years of experience in the property and casualty field of insurance. After graduating from Carleton University, David owned and operated his family insurance business for 32 years prior to joining Brokerlink. David is an active member of his community and has done extensive fundraising and marketing for numerous charity organizations including Upstream Ottawa, Bytown Association of Rescued Kanines, Kemptville Kinsmen, St James Anglican Church Kemptville and One Hundred Men Who Care Ottawa. David is a new board member and looks forward to working with the OSA.


Shirley Yik

Shirley Yik is a graduate of the Ottawa School of Art Fine Arts Diploma Program. She also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, a Master of Information Systems Science degree, and a Master of Management Studies degree, all from Carleton University. Formerly she held management positions in telecommunications and internet consulting companies.

Shirley’s art practice includes painting, drawing and printmaking. She has received grants from the City of Ottawa and the Ontario Arts Council. Her work is held in private collections and the City of Ottawa’s art collection.


Allison Fary
Project Manager
TELUS

Allison Fary is a project manager at TELUS, where she manages the company’s Team TELUS Cares programs, including the TELUS Community Ambassadors – the TELUS volunteer network, TELUS match – matching charitable contributions and Volunteer rewards – rewarding volunteer efforts. Allison is dedicated to encouraging employee and retiree volunteerism, improving employee engagement and making a difference in our community. Allison earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of British Columbia and her Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.


Geraldine Taylor

Geraldine Taylor, the Renaissance woman behind the Geraldine’s Gallery, has been an artist and art collector for 46 years. She studied Commercial Art at Commerce High School in Ottawa, and later earned a B.A. in Fine Arts and Photography from the University of Ottawa. Throughout her career, Geraldine has worked as a performance artist, a visual artist, curator, and publisher – in 1983 she published Portfolio 83, a collection of original prints and multiples by Ottawa artists.

With an impressive art collection that contains about 2,000 pieces, Geraldine collects art the way some people collect stamps. She collects, categorizes, and places artistic works on the walls of her gallery, creating a fluid, ever-changing expression of creativity. Drawn to people with passion for art, Geraldine develops and nurtures long-term relationships that allow her to exhibit works than span an entire artist’s career.

Since moving to Kemptville in 1992, Geraldine has made a name for herself both as an artist and curator, and as a real estate agent.


Stephen Frew

Stephen Frew holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary and a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University. His studies focused on intaglio printmaking and figurative works.

Residing in Ottawa since 2008, Stephen’s work continues to explore the human figure, through dynamic lines and colour. He has exhibited in solo and group shows across the city and beyond. His work resides in the City of Ottawa Permanent Collection as well as private collections across Canada and the US.

Stephen is the owner of Seven Below Gallery in Ottawa’s Old Ottawa South neighbourhood. The gallery showcases established and emerging artists with an emphasis on contemporary figurative and abstract work. Stephen welcomes opportunities to work with new artists, helping them navigate the complexities of an ever-changing and challenging art industry.
