Ottawa, ON (January 13, 2014) The Ottawa School of Art is pleased to present X4, a group exhibition featuring abstract works by Dominik Sokolowski, Elaine Saheurs, Heidi Conrod and Sharon Kelly. The exhibition takes place from January 16 to February 16, 2014 at the Ottawa School of Art’s ByWard Market Gallery. Join us for the opening vernissage January 16 from 5pm to 8pm to meet the artists. X4 offers viewers an intimate look at four distinct abstract artists, each with their own narrative and style, contrasting yet complementary.Dominik Sokolowski’s work is both painterly and sculptural. He achieves this through the use of colour, texture, and depth. He works with a strong palette of blue, orange and red that contrasts with black, white and grey.
Eliane Saheurs’s works reflect strong geological themes using organic and geometric forms and space.  Her use of vivid colours contrasted by muted tones creates mysterious landscapes.
Heidi Conrod’s uses the movement and instability of the world around her to create works, (coma) which explore where colour, line, shape and narratives compete.
Sharon Kelly works through her painting process through intuition and feeling. She is drawn to shoreline landscapes and her paintings provide her an area to work through a combination of trial & error, randomness & controlled environment, and the hidden & the obvious.
The opening vernissage will take place at the OSA Main Gallery in the ByWard Market on Thursday January 16th, 2013 from 5 pm – 8 pm. Admission is free.
This free exhibition runs from January 16 to February 16, 2014.
