Welcome to the OSA blog!

Welcome to the brand new Ottawa School of Art blog! Just like a freshly primed canvas, or a newly painted studio, it’s bright and open and ready for some colour. Imagine that fresh paint smell as you read on.

So, why start a blog?

Well, there’s a lot going on at the OSA, between the two locations it calls home. Whether it’s the downtown campus, located in the historic Byward Market, or the Orleans campus, in the sleek and modern Shenkman Arts Centre, artists of all stripes come to work and play in the OSA studios.

The OSA also has a number of galleries, featuring stunning work by local and international artists. These exhibitions showcase a wide variety of contemporary media, and are often poignant and political. Here you’ll be able to learn more about these shows, and catch behind-the-scenes glimpses of the artists’ processes and ideas.

And, of course, the OSA can’t run without the people behind it. The volunteers, the fundraisers, and the instructors who keep it all going are key to this fabulous school’s existence. Not only will you have a chance to read up about our special events here, you’ll also get to know some of the special folk who keep this school chugging along.

And so, with all of that to share with you, here we are! Check back weekly for new posts, or follow our blog to get updates. Get ready to delve into the weird and wonderful world of art school!
