Is there a membership fee?

Yes, an annual family fee of $30

 

What does the membership fee entitle me to?

The membership entitles you to take classes at the school, take part in members’ exhibitions, sell art work through the school store, rent studio space and facilities.

 

Why is there a membership fee?

We are a not-for-profit organization and therefore must charge a membership fee.

 

Where can I register?

You may register in person at the reception desk or by phone at one of our two campuses. For the Orléans campus, you can also register online on the Shenkman Arts Centre website at shenkmanarts.ca.

 

What forms of payment are accepted for registration?

When registering in person, you may pay by cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard, or Interac; by phone, we accept Visa or MasterCard only. (We do not accept American Express).

 

What kind of programs do you offer?

We offer general interest courses for adults and children, as well as a one year full-time Portfolio Certificate program [PC], and a three year full-time Fine Arts Diploma program [FAD].

 

What are the requirements to join general courses at the OSA?

Anyone can enrol in courses at the OSA, from novices to experts, from pre-schoolers to seniors.

 

What are the requirements to enrol in the Fine Arts Diploma program [FAD] | Portfolio Certificate program [PC] courses | Fine Crafts Certificate program [FCC] ?

If you are interested in full-time studies at the OSA, you must pay an application fee of $50, submit a portfolio, and have an interview with our Diploma Advisor, Andrew Fay. See our Diploma section for more information.

 

Where can I park?

The Byward Market campus is beside a pay-per-hour parking lot and many metered parking spaces are available in the surrounding Byward market area. It does not offer free or validated parking. The Orleans campus has free parking behind the Shenkman Arts Centre.

 

What kind of facilities do you have?

The school of art has a Darkroom, Sculpture Studio, Printmaking Studio, Computer Lab, Ceramics Studio, Woodworking studio as well as several general studios.

 

Do you rent studio space?

Studio space is very limited in the school, and limited to current members only. Members are also able to rent time in the Darkroom, Printroom, Sculpture, Ceramics and Woodworking studio.

 

Do you have a Gallery?

Yes, we have three galleries housed at the school: our Main Gallery located off of the main lobby of the Byward Market campus as well as a student gallery: The Lee Matasi located to the right of the main lobby of the Byward Market campus: The Orleans Gallery located on the second floor of the Shenkman Arts Centre.

 

How do I propose an exhibition in your Gallery?

You must submit a written proposal along with slide or digital images to the Gallery Committee. The deadline for submissions is in the spring of every year. See our Submissions section for more information.
