Two new artists-in-residence this month at the OSA

OSA is hosting 2 artists-in-residence this month. They are Eva Evrard from Belgium and Adrian Gorea (originally from Romania but now living in Gatineau). They are both young artists working on new projects during their residency.
Eva Evrard graduated with an MA in Fine Arts from the Belgian National Institute for the Visual Arts in 2007. Her focus was on typography which led her to an interest in the book form beyond a mere vehicle for printed content and more as a medium and a concept in itself. She will have several of her artist’s books on display for Nuit Blanche this Saturday night. She will be working a new project in the ceramics studio until September 27. She will give a talk on her work and development as an artist on Tuesday, September 22 at 12:00 noon.

Adrian Gorea just finished his Phd this spring in Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture at Concordia University. He has an MFA from the University of Windsor and a BFA from George Enescu University of Fine Arts as well as a Fine Arts Diploma from the National College of Fine Arts in Romania. He will be working on a series of icons created using traditional techniques and materials but with content that reflects contemporary society. He will be giving a talk on his work at the Diploma Program orientation session on Friday evening at 5:00 pm. He will be working on his residency project throughout the fall term in the sculpture studio. He will give another talk on his work near the end of his residency as well as a presentation of the work he has completed.
