CalLane_exhibition_17-1

Ottawa, ON (August 29, 2011) The Ottawa School of Art is proud to present ‘Sweet Crude’ an exhibition by the award-winning artist Cal Lane. Lane, who is originally from the east coast but who grew up on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, studied fine arts, majoring in sculpting and welding. Lane’s unique style consists of using her torch as her paintbrush in order to cut out patterns into objects such as wheelbarrows, old drums and shovels. Her work contrasts the feminine and masculine, the intricate and the simple and positive versus negative space. A selection of her works from the ‘Sweet Crude’ project will be displayed at the OSA Gallery at 35 George Street from September 14 to November 6, 2011.

The opening night vernissage & reception will take place at the OSA Main Gallery in the ByWard Market on Wednesday September 14, 2011 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

This free exhibition runs from September 14 to November 6, 2011.
